Quick start

How to set up the play area.

01

Mark the floor

Draw rectangular tiles on the floor, for example with tape, or place non-slip rectangular mats.

02

Set up the camera steadily

Place your smartphone, tablet or laptop steadily. A tripod is optional but recommended for stable detection.

03

Mark four corners in the image

Mark the outer corners of your real floor field in the game as well. Step Escape uses them to calculate your perspective grid.

04

Set tiles and start

Choose the field size, place lava, safe tiles and goals. After the countdown, the camera detects your steps.

Materials

What you need for the real play area.

The game works best when the floor tiles are clearly visible. You can tape rectangles with painter’s tape or use non-slip mats as individual tiles.

01

Custom Mode

Gestalte dein Feld frei.

For good detection

Your whole body must be visible.

Play in good light, keep the camera steady and leave about one to two meters between the camera and the front tile. Your body should be visible from head to toe so your feet can be detected correctly and efficiently.
